On Friday, January 3, 2014 we celebrated ‘One Year of Travel Stories.’ By we, I mean 7 speakers, 10 photographers, 1 Bluebird Books Bus, 1 zinester, and 90 local travel enthusiasts. Thank you, Tampa Bay, for embracing The Travelogues.

There is no recording from this evening. I decided that I would let the evenings stories exist only within that time and those walls. The exciting news of the evening was that we have a new logo, and we’ll be seasonal instead of monthly. Our next Travelogue is April 4, and the one after that is July 11. You can find out who you’ll be hearing from at those times here.

As for our lovely, magical one year anniversary, there was a Nancy Drew Cruise, an engagement, a frozen camera chord, lava, a fancy Japanese toilet, an elephant-shaped towel, and the Devil’s Punchbowl– which makes for a diverse, entertaining, and humbling batch of stories. Thank you, Josh Sullivan, Katie Marie and Eric Turner, Victoria Hawley, James and Julie Branaman, Jeremy Gloff, Justin Arnold, and Mitzi Gordon for volunteering your experiences for the evening.

Thank you Brian Vandervliet, James and Julie Branaman, Daniel Veintimilla, Chad Verzosa, Megan Voeller, Joe Benjamin, Peter Hoang, Amanda Just, and Brian Mahar for sharing photographs and stories from your travels.

Thank you to our sponsors, Creative Loafing and Sun Frames.

Thank you to James DeFord, Rosalie Arnone, Julie Zydek, Kelly Moroni, and Laura Salgado for helping to execute the event.

Thank you to Meredith Watt and Trey Penton for photographing the event and our speakers.

See you in April for Isle of Skye, Kauai, and Israel! Safe travels!
